- IPF - Property GIPS: Nowhere to Hide?
-
DLA, 3 Noble Street, London, EC2
Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) have now been adopted by most major American and European equity and bond management houses as the framework of rules and guidelines governing the way they compute and report the performance of the funds they manage. Moreover, most clients now also expect GIPS compliance.
Now property fund managers have nowhere to hide! The GIPS provisions have been explicitly extended to real estate management. The Investment Performance Council of the Association of Investment Management and Research has adopted a set of real estate provisions as part of GIPS and they will be applicable from January 2005. It's a challenging regime and will need advanced planning. We will explore all the key issues and potential impacts of the newly adopted provisions. Join us to find out more about what this will mean for UK property investment.

e-mail: k.a.harris@salford.ac.uk - 18:00 - IPF - Opportunities In Mixed Use Investment And Development
-
Grosvenor, 70 Grosvenor Street, London W1
Recent development has been increasingly urban in nature; and concentrated on previously used sites rather than formerly agricultural or rural sites. In addition to pressure from various groups against greenfield development, this shift has been influenced by planning policies aimed at regenerating our urban areas through high quality developments that combine a range of land uses with attractive public spaces. Inner city sites are typically large and demand high density development. As a result, most projects require a range of different building types, such as office space, retail, leisure and residential (including “affordable” accommodation). The typical size and diversity of projects can present funding problems and challenge the preconceived requirements of investors. Through a presentation and panel discussion, leading experts will examine the challenges and opportunities presented by mixed use and consider the potential impact on the UK property investment and development markets.
