This conference brings together Margaret Curran MSP, Minister for Communities with responsibility for planning and a range of specialist speakers from bodies as diverse as Scottish Local Government, CBI Scotland, the Scottish Retail Consortium and legal specialists and planning consultants.
The conference will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the planning system particularly in the context of Scottish economic development and in that light will assess arguments for and against third party rights of appeal, examine the need to modernise existing local plans and move towards new development plans for Scotland. It will also discuss the role of the National Planning Framework as a key element in the proposals to modernise and reform the planning system.
Fiona Moriarty, Director of the Scottish Retail Consortium will be speaking at this event.
