Speke Garston - Industrial Development - Liverpool, Venture Point

Date: 10 Dec 2002

Speke Garston Development Company, the regeneration agency redeveloping land around the original Liverpool Airport in South Liverpool, has announced its preferred developer for the area’s latest speculative industrial project at the 8 ha (20 acre) Venture Point.

Langtree Group, one of the North’s leading investment and development companies, will build out around 5,131 sq m (52,300 sq ft) in a selection of units ranging from 259 sq m (2,788 sq ft) to 570 sq m (6,135 sq ft). Work is expected to start on the 2 ha (5 acre) site in early 2003. Langtree will construct the units to the BREEAM* ‘Excellent’ rating — the highest environmental quality standard in the UK for new buildings.

Venture Point is situated on the existing Speke Garston Industrial Estate and was created following a land acquisition programme by the Development Company. The remaining land has seen strong interest from owner occupiers, who are able to take advantage of infrastructure being provided through Speke Garston Development Company and the European Regional Development Fund.

Speke Garston Development Company Commercial Director, Sarah Raper, said : "We are delighted that Langtree will be providing such high quality buildings at Venture Point. These units will continue the design and environmental excellence that we have worked hard to create in the Speke Garston area.”

John Downes, managing director of Langtree Group, commented: “We are very excited about providing high quality accommodation in an area which is seeing increasing demand. Our units at Venture Point are part of a broader initiative to encourage businesses to return to an already thriving mixed-use environment, which benefits from a ready and accessible supply of skilled workers.”
