Johnson Controls - Offices Development - Cambridge, Campus
Date: 12 Dec 2002
Global facilities solutions provider, Johnson Controls has been selected by the Wellcome Trust – the world’s largest medical research charity – to advise on the design of the Trust’s new 27,000 square metre (300,000 square feet) facilities near Cambridge (UK). The expanded Campus will support Wellcome Trust’s research efforts into the human genome.
As part of this prestigious contract, which attracted bids from 13 other major facility management (FM) and consulting firms, Johnson Controls will offer consultation on the most effective delivery of FM services as well as assess current and future FM needs, at a strategic and operational level. The two projects will run in parallel with input from a team of Johnson Controls service heads and consultants.
By January, Johnson Controls will provide a full FM model which will address the needs of the enlarged Campus, which will include laboratories, a data centre, a research support facility and additional ancillary facilities as well as an Innovation Centre and grow-on space for commercial companies.
“We have assisted many clients in the life sciences sector in creating facilities and services that will provide them with exceptional working environments. Being selected for such an influential project further underlines our expertise in this sector,” said Paul Morgan, director of strategic facilities consulting, Johnson Controls. “We are looking forward to ensuring that the Wellcome Trust has buildings that underpin the delivery of top quality, efficient and cost-effective FM services, which support its business objectives from both a cost and productivity perspective.”
Commenting on the significance of the contract, Agostino Renna, global sales director for the life sciences market, Johnson Controls, said, “The Wellcome Trust is held in high esteem throughout the world for the quality of its research. It is very gratifying therefore that they have asked Johnson Controls to ensure their future success by helping to create a world class facility.”
