Date: 24 Jan 2003

Taylor Woodrow has announced that it invested a massive £131 million in Scotland in 2002 and will invest a massive £1.5 billion in Scotland over the next decade.

The leading housing and development company underlined its commitment to Scotland by announcing details of the ambitious investment programme at the unveiling of its latest showpiece office development.

Scotland’s First Minister, Jack McConnell MSP, addressed Taylor Woodrow’s guests at a ceremony in December to mark the completion of the first phase of work to transform a former East Kilbride hospital site into a showpiece business park.

The first phase of work at Philipshill comprises the Carradale 30,111 sq.ft. office building, and the 20,019 sq.ft. Colonsay office building. The buildings have the potential to attract 450 jobs to the business park.

Iain Napier, chief executive of Taylor Woodrow plc, stressed the company’s commitment to continuing to introduce similar high quality developments to the Scottish marketplace.

“Taylor Woodrow are programmed to invest £1.5 billion in Scotland between now and 2013 through its residential and commercial property development activities,” explained Iain Napier.

“This level of investment will make a significant impact on the Scottish economy, and will create thousands of new jobs. The completed first phase of Philipshill Business Park is a shining example of quality and innovation, and demonstrates our confidence in both the future potential of the park and in the office sector in Scotland.”

Taylor Woodrow has received planning consent for the development of the second phase of the business park, which comprises a further two buildings, offering combined office space of 60,000 sq.ft.

Occupying a strategic location on what will be the junction of the A726 and the new Glasgow Southern Orbital by-pass, the 14.8 acre business park has outline planning consent for 330,000 sq.ft. of high quality office buildings, all set within a mature landscaped environment.

The location has already proved popular with a number of corporate office users, including British Energy, the Inland Revenue and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.

Agents for the Carradale and Colonsay Buildings are Jones Lang LaSalle and Ryden.
