Date: 29 Jan 2003
Project managers and architects Chantrey Davis have announced a February start date for construction of the Capital & Provident group’s luxurious Discovery Dock residential scheme adjoining Canary Wharf in the heart of London Docklands.
The £42m contract has been signed with Shepherd Construction Ltd for the 23 storey L-shaped building, with 185 apartments, ground floor restaurant and retail units, and underground parking for 188 cars on two basement levels. The contract will take 25 months to complete.
The building, designed by Chantrey Davis Director, Trevor Davison and Interior Designer, Ann Loxley to a state of the art specification, is being built under Chantrey Davis’ project management supervision. Features include a fully-fitted gymnasium and swimming pool and extensive landscaped gardens, incorporating trees, water features and lawns. Some apartments additionally incorporate balconies, allowing access to magnificent Canary Wharf views.
John Furlong, Chantrey Davis Associate Director and Project Manager is particularly pleased with the Discovery Dock launch:
“It is rewarding to get this major project underway as it forms a cornerstone to the 1.1m sq ft World Trade Centre London development, most of which now has full planning clearance ready to follow on. The next phase, to include a 256 bedroom hotel, 92 apartments and commercial space, is expected to start in the autumn.”
