Commenting on the proposals, Don Morgan planning director for Gazeley said:-
“The site on Skelmersdale’s new XL North West site is ideal for the new chilled and frozen food distribution centre for Asda. The creation of 550 new jobs with Asda who are recognised as “the best employer in the UK” is brilliant news for West Lancashire.”
Rob Trevor of Jones Lang LaSalle, head of Industrial for the North West said:
“I anticipate that this will be one of the largest, if not the largest, distribution centre to be constructed in the North West this year. This is not only good news for Skelmersdale but also for the North West market as a whole and highlights the continuing importance of the North West market for major occupiers seeking strategic sites.”
Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Gazeley/Asda and Edwin Hill/Colliers CRE acted on behalf of the land owner owning consortium, which included Lancashire County Council.
