Alliance - Offices Development - Manchester, King Street

Date: 18 Mar 2003

Property Alliance Group are underway with a £2 million refurbishment of the former Olympic House on Manchester's Whitworth Street West. Renamed Merchant Exchange, the building's roof is being raised to accommodate two extra floors. This contemporary addition o the 1907 offices takes the total space to 27,500 sq ft over 7 storeys and incudes basement car parking.
Ian Hunter, Director in charge of the scheme at Alliance said 'Our refurbishment of Merchant Exhange is the missing piece of the jigsaw on Whitworth Street West. There has been a complete makeover from the Palace right through to the Hacienda, creating a vibrant new district, and we're delighted to be part of it'.
Russells Construction are undertaking the refurbishment, which will be ready for occupation this summer. A welcome addition to the city's new South Central office district, the scheme follows Alliance's highley successful acquisition and refurbishment of No.1 Central Street 3 years earlier.
Edwards & Co and Insignia Richard Ellis are acting for Alliance in the lettings.
