Monk Dunstone Associates - Offices Development - Leicester University

Monk Dunstone Associates (MDA), currently involved in the construction of a new biomedical science building at the University of Leicester, has been appointed by the University to provide five key services on its £16m student accommodation project.

MDA will act as lead consultant, project manager, quantity surveyor, mechanical & electrical engineer and planning supervisor, representing great success for the Leicester team, headed up by Rod Adam.

The scheme will comprise 190,000 sq ft of student accommodation providing 600 beds with en-suite facilities and includes upgrading and extending the
existing dining and recreational facilities on campus.


Rod Adam said: "This is our second appointment by the University of Leicester, a top 20 UK university, in the last year and further strengthens our working relationship with them and our experience in the education sector.

"The new £15 million biomedical science building is currently under construction and will provide state of the art facilities for the University's World class research activities in genetics and cancer research
when it is completed in 2004."


The University of Leicester boasts splendid student accommodation and conference facilities.Many of the halls are set amid landscaped gardens in an exclusive suburb, including a 16-acre Botanic Garden. The planned new accommodation will enhance facilities even further."

The project team for the accommodation project includes architect, Goddard Manton, structural engineer, BWB, and Munro Whitten, landscape architects
