Lunson Mitchenall - Retail Development - London N1, King's Cross
Date: 26 Mar 2003
Leading retail consultancy, Lunson Mitchenall, has been appointed to advise Argent St George on the retail and leisure element of its proposed King’s Cross regeneration project in central London. Lunson Mitchenall joins Jones Lang La Salle as part of the retail team advising the joint venture development group.
Argent St George is developing the 23.67 hectare (58.5 acre) brownfield site on behalf of landowners London & Continental Railways and Exel. The former King’s Cross Goods Yard is now London's most exciting and significant regeneration project. Argent St George’s Framework for Regeneration is currently undergoing a comprehensive public consultation with the masterplan yet to be finalised. The mixed-use development allows for between 6–8 million sq ft of regeneration, with shops, bars and restaurants - delivered in the form of a vibrant new retail and leisure destination – as well as high-density office and residential accommodation.
Construction is anticipated to start in 2006/7 after completion of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
Commenting on the appointment Lunson Mitchenall director, Peter Courtney said:
“King’s Cross is a fantastic project and we are delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the distinguished team. We want to contribute to something that promises to be an exemplary mixed-use urban regeneration project.
“The retail with some leisure element, which will be spread throughout the ground and first floor levels, is set to be an important catalyst for its success in terms of setting the image and creating the right setting for residents and office workers as well as an income generator.
“In advising Argent St George, Lunson Mitchenall will be drawing on its wide ranging experience of major retail developments throughout the UK as well as mixed-use schemes such as Canary Wharf and Paddington.”
