Centros Miller - Retail Development - Boston, Pescod Square

Centros Miller has secured funding and has started work on its new £21 million town centre retail scheme, Pescod Square in Boston, Lincolnshire.

Violet Investments, represented by Montague Goldsmith has agreed a forward commitment to purchase the 8,639 sq m (93,000 sq ft) scheme on completion which is scheduled for July 2004. Finance to cover construction will be provided by Rothschild & Sons Limited.

The development has already attracted a number of high profile lettings including Next, Wilkinsons, Ottakers, Baker’s Oven, Clinton Cards, Allsports, Peacocks, Home Bargains, Officers Club, QS and Savers.

Lester Hampson, managing director of Centros Miller says: “With work now started we are delighted to announce that over 70% of the scheme has been pre-let to a number of top names.

“The extent of retailer confidence is a firm endorsement of the quality of the scheme which will make Boston a leading retail destination for east Lincolnshire.”

The design is an open plan streetscape providing a natural pedestrian circuit in the heart of the town. The car parking facilities, let to Meteor Parking Limited, are the largest in Boston with space for 400 cars.

Oldrids department store to the north of the site is undertaking refurbishment and extension works at its store. The renovations will provide a total area of 8,361 sq m (90,000 sq ft), which will be finished in time to coincide with the opening of Pescod Square.

Letting agents for the scheme are Colin Buckle & Co and Nelson Bakewell and the architect is Building Design Partnership. Miller Construction is the contractor.
