Date: 22 Jul 2003

KFC, advised by Vail Williams and Burns Property Consultants, has exchanged contracts to acquire a new drive-thru’ restaurant on Lottbridge Drove in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Southdowns Restaurants, a KFC franchise, has agreed to lease the 278.7 sq m (3,000 sq ft) site from Madford Developers. Planning consent has been obtained and KFC has signed a new 20-year lease at £269 per sq m (£25 per sq ft).

Angermann Goddard & Loyd advised Madford Developers.

Peter Spelman, partner at Vail Williams, comments: “KFC has been looking to acquire a drive-thru’ site in Eastbourne for over four years and is delighted to have secured this site, which represents one of the best opportunities in the town.”

This acquisition continues major national expansion scheme which has particularly targeted south east England.

With KFC’s present rate of growth it will occupy over 650 restaurants, including 58 new stores, by the end of 2003. This will consolidate its position as the UK’s fastest-growing quick service restaurant operator.

Construction work is due to commence on the site this summer ready for trading early 2004.

Vail Williams and Burns Property Consultants are retained to acquire sites for KFC in south east England.
