Distribution property specialist sbh.uk has just completed a high speed project for Stapleton’s (Tyre Services ) Ltd, handing over a fully operational tyre distribution centre in just seven weeks from acquiring a suitable building shell. The 1,500 m² 7.5m high facility in Crayford, Kent, has been equipped with an innovative, purpose built racking structure and a power lift to hold some 30,000 tyres. The centre has been designed to handle retail sales in addition to distributing tyres to vehicle dealerships and its own 50 retail outlets throughout the South-East.

sbh.uk project-managed the assignment from start to finish, including the installation of ground floor offices, and all main services including smoke detectors. Using a tyre storage rack avoided the need for a mezzanine floor, which simplified the planning approval process and enabled sbh.uk to achieve such a demanding deadline on time. The Crayford centre is the first of its type and Stapleton’s plans to extend the design to its other locations now the new facility has proved its value.

Stapleton’s Head of Logistics Ian Kirkpatrick explained; “The Dartford solution has demonstrated a new approach to tyre storage and we have decided to adopt it as best practice for the company. The opening went without a hitch and the facility helps us provide excellent customer service on a same day, next day or twice weekly cycle.”
