Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd, the management company behind Kingmoor Park, Carlisle’s 400-acre development site, have just announced the start of a £2.4 million investment to provide a phase 2 extension to the recently completed Capita Regional Headquarters on Kingmoor Business Park.
Phase 1 saw the construction of a 30,000sqft futuristic office complex, which currently provides office accommodation for 300 staff. Phase 2 consists of another 19,000sqft of office space providing facilities for anther 200 staff. Capita have taken a 15 year lease on the overall £6m complex. Local construction company, Border Construction have already been awarded the contract, which is scheduled for completion by April 2004.
Capita have also committed to a 5 year lease on 5,000sqft of office space in the newly refurbished Regent’s Court Office Complex on Kingmoor Business Park.
Kingmoor Park, with its direct access to the M6, is also the location for the newly constructed 80,000sqft regional distribution centre for Edinburgh Woollen Mill, 40,000sqft regional headquarters for Baxter’s (International) UK Ltd, Enesco European Giftware, Vodaphone, Cubby Construction, Stead McAlpin (part of the John Lewis Group) and bottled water distributor Well Well Well.
Commenting on the Capita development Tony Goddard, the Managing Director of Kingmoor Park Properties Ltd says,
“Kingmoor Park has been operational for 4 years. In that time we have attracted over 100 tenants who employ over a 1000 staff, let or sold nearly 1msqft, acquired another 200 acres bringing the total to 400 and gained a reputation for being one of the best located sites in the country with direct access to the motorway network and being close to the rail and air network. The Capita facility is the latest in a long line of companies to recognise this and establish a regional presence on site. The imminent realisation of the Carlisle Northern Development Route, which will pass through the middle of Kingmoor Park will give us an even greater advantage in terms of location and will open up access to the employment opportunities available on site to West Cumbria and South West Scotland”.
Kingmoor Park is a North West Development Agency Strategic Site with nearly 2msqft of existing space set in over 400 acres. The development of the site is the subject of a Joint Venture Agreement with Carlisle City Council and Cumbria County Council. The jointly produced Development Guide has an employment objective of creating 3500 jobs over the 10 years and by March 2004 it is thought that 1500 will be employed at Kingmoor Park.
