Nelson Bakewell - Mixed-Use Development - Lydney, Lydney Golf Course

Date: 15 Jan 2004

Nelson Bakewell have been instructed to formulate a marketing strategy and seek initial expressions of interest on a 42 acre site in Lydney, South Gloucestershire. The site currently used as a golf course is surplus land to the town's main employer and global manufacturer of automotive parts. Following a recent inspector's report into the local development plan, the site (subject to final local authority approval) has been allocated a mixed use of approx. 10 acres of employment with approx. 32 acres of residential and public open space. At present, there is potential to build up to 450 dwellings on the site. Nelson Bakewell and their clients are working closely with the Local Planning Authority to ensure that this important strategic site is carefully phased and development meets their required standards and timing.

Andrew Smith of Nelson Bakewell's National Agency and Development team commented, "This is a significant strategic landholding both for Lydney and Gloucestershire in which the development of the site will have tremendous growth prospects for the town. Land values in Lydney have risen significantly in the last two to three years and growth is expected to continue as the supply of good quality housing is provided and with the town’s ability to pull demand from Chepstow, and the principal market towns of Cheltenham and Gloucester”.
