Akeler - Offices Development - Paris, Major office park
Date: 04 Mar 2004
Award-winning international developer and business park specialist, Akeler, has agreed terms to purchase a 20-acre site with planning consent for 830,000 sq ft (77,000 sq m) of office development. Located just 10km south of Paris, the site will be the first dedicated office park to be constructed, landscaped and managed by a single developer in the Ile de France region, marking a major turning point in the future of office development in France.
Situated between the two arterial motorway networks between Paris and the south of France, the A6 and A10, Akeler will work with the City of Wissous and the Agence Fonciere et Technique de la Region Parisienne (AFTRP) to develop a landmark regional office park - Akeler’s first in France. Orly Airport is just 5km from the site and the park will have excellent car parking provision, extensive facilities and easy access to public transport links and a large, skilled workforce.
Trevor Silver, Chief Executive, Akeler Developments commented “Akeler is a leading innovator in business park development. We are keen to drive development forward by creating a landmark office park – the like of which has never been seen in France before. Our proposals for Wissous stand as testament to the strength and quality of Akeler’s product.”
Phase One of development is scheduled to begin in early 2005 and will be ready for occupation in the second quarter of 2006, providing 170,000 sq ft (16,000 sq m) of prime office space. Extensive landscaping and amenities have been incorporated into the master plan to create a unique European office park which will attract leading national and international companies.
Silver continues: “This is one of the most notable opportunities in Ile de France and we are confident that the development will significantly enhance the southern Paris economic region. Based on a reputation of delivery, quality and innovation in the UK and Portugal, we are confident that the business model which has been so effective before will be as successful at Wissous.
"Working with the AFTRP has made the process of acquiring our first office park location as straightforward as possible. Its professionalism during the negotiation process has been refreshing and we look forward to our continued partnership with them."
Architects for the scheme are Aukett. Bouygues Bâtiment Construction Privee has been appointed as the main contractor.
