GVA Grimley - Mixed-Use Development - Sittingbourne, Kemsley Fields Business Park

Date: 08 Mar 2004

Work has begun on the 54.6-hectare (135-acre) Kemsley Fields Business Park, Sittingbourne, Kent, with the construction of a spine road through the development that will ultimately link the centre of Sittingbourne with the A249 trunk road.

The £8 million road project is being funded by Kemsley Fields Ltd and follows the forward sale of 10-hectare (25-acres) of residential land to George Wimpey.

The business park has planning consent for the development of B1, B2 and B8 employment uses and a small neighbour-hood shopping area. Large freehold plots are available, allowing the design and build of bespoke offices, industrial, distribution or research and development business units. Kemsley Fields Ltd will sell plots to either owner occupiers or developers.

The new road will provide the development with direct access to the A249 dual carriageway and the M2 motorway, approximately four miles to the south.

Peter Boros of CPM Consulting, who advises Kemsley Fields Ltd, says: “The strategic position of Kemsley Fields Business Park close to the Channel Tunnel and the national motorway and rail network will bring new employment opportunities to north Kent, and I believe that its development will help bring a new era of prosperity to the region. We are focused on producing a first class development that will provide businesses with a high quality working environment.”

The joint agents, GVA Grimley and Harrisons, report that the business park is already attracting strong interest from some major occupiers, attracted by the availability of freehold property in large plot sizes that are capable of supporting a range of business activities.

Completion of the new road is expected in November 2004.
