Gazeley - Mixed-Use Development - Lutterworth, Magna Park

Date: 09 Mar 2004

Leading European logistics developer Gazeley is to kick-start 2004 with major speculative development programmes at five of its key UK sites.

Gazeley is planning to build more than 170,000 sq m (1.84 million sq ft) in new units at its parks in Bedford (Marsh Leys) and Thatcham (Mill Park), at new sites in Dagenham and Purfleet in Essex as well as at its flagship Magna Park development in Lutterworth.

The significant building programme will create some of the largest speculatively built sheds to come on to the market for some years - including two of more than 40,000 sq m (430,560 sq ft).

Nigel Godfrey, development director for Gazeley, comments:
“Last year saw a lull in the take-up of distribution facilities. However, we believe that the market is now poised for a shift as 2004 sees the welcomed return of occupier demand, particularly from retailers and third party distributors.

“The launch of our speculative building programme reflects our strategy of positioning ourselves for the expected increased demand. This, coupled with our existing bespoke ‘G.Track’ construction capability of delivering large warehouses at high speed, ensures that Gazeley is able to offer occupiers a choice of programmes designed to suit their business needs.”
