Workspace Group - Offices Development - London SE1, Leathermarket Business Centre
Date: 08 Jun 2004
Workspace Group, the leading provider of flexible accommodation to small businesses across London, has completed two new rooftop extensions, creating two studio offices of 3,285sq ft and 2,721sq ft at its popular Leathermarket Business Centre in Southwark.
Designed by FSP Architects and Planners, the extensions are flooded with natural light via lantern roofs, creating a particularly attractive working environment. In-line with Workspace Group's commitment to minimising environmental impact through its activities, the units have been designed to reduce the need for heating and air-conditioning. Concrete planks inside the roof panels, combined with a brise-soleil canopy system, allows the space to heat up naturally in winter, while remaining cool in summer.
Full Broadband access and sophisticated cabling ensure that tenants can easily install their own IT solutions. Other amenities include a kitchen, WC facilities with disability access and an innovative lighting system.
Part of the Leathermarket complex, tenants in the new extensions also benefit from great networking opportunities with other successful businesses, CCTV, a café, recycling facilities and conference rooms. A full-time manager and caretaker are based on-site.
Harry Platt, chief executive of Workspace Group, comments: "The Leathermarket is one of our most popular sites, and creating these extra floors will enable more tenants to enjoy its impressive facilities.
"These innovative extensions combine technology and natural resources to create a pleasant working environment that will suit a wide variety of small businesses, and in fact, one unit is already under offer."
