Monk Dunstone Associates (MDA) - Development - South Yorkshire, Barnsley District General Hospital NHS Trust

Date: 16 Jun 2004

Monk Dunstone Associates (MDA) has been appointed by the Barnsley District General Hospital NHS Trust to act as project manager and construction advisor on the £8 million expansion and redevelopment of its existing imaging unit on Gawber Road, South Yorkshire, S75 2EP.

The project involves upgrading the unit to provide up-to-date digital processing and MRI scanner facilities. Simons are the main contractor for the scheme, which is programmed to take 99 weeks.

John Hodges, director in charge of Project Management at MDA, said: "As the hospital will remain in operation for the duration of the project, effective management of the scheme is crucial.

"We have, therefore, implemented comprehensive stakeholder management, focusing heavily on patients, staff and contractors, implemented risk strategies, developed change and value management processes, and created ongoing evaluation criteria for the performance measurement of the scheme.

"As a result of our advice and pro-active role in this project, we have been commissioned to review another two schemes at the hospital", he added.
