Helioslough - Industrial Development - Cardiff International Rail Freight Terminal Scheme

Date: 29 Jun 2004

Helioslough, the joint venture formed by the specialist distribution company Helios Properties with Slough Estates, has submitted a detailed planning application to Cardiff City Council for its £25million , Cardiff International Rail Freight Terminal scheme (CIRFT) at Wentloog.

Working in partnership with the WDA and Cardiff City Council, the proposed development of the 435,000 sq ft (40,411 sq m) project, situated adjacent to the existing rail freight terminal, will include a 85,000 sq ft (7,820 sq m) bespoke building for rail engineering company, the Pullman Group.

Helioslough director Mike Hughes comments: "The CIRFT site has the advantage of being ideally situated in a prime growth area for Cardiff together with an existing rail connection. Designed to meet the increasing need for high quality industrial and distribution space, we are confident the scheme will prove attractive to companies looking to establish in South Wales and the South West."

Subject to planning consent, work is programmed to start in September of this year.

Knight Frank advised Helioslough and the Pullman Group was advised by Michael Graham Young.
