Overbury - Offices Development - Bexleyheath, Bexley Council

Date: 28 Jul 2004

Office fit out specialist Overbury has completed its £300,000 scheme to refurbish this new contact centre and central 'link' area at the offices of Bexley Council in Bexleyheath, south east London.

The ten-week project involved fitting out 500 sq m of office space which forms a link between two council buildings, including a new call centre and reception area, six interview rooms, a staff meeting room and a restaurant. Overbury's work also included creating a safe corridor to maintain access for council staff between the two buildings. With the buildings in occupation for the duration of the scheme, a key priority was to minimise disruption to council employees as well as the borough's councillors.

The project also involved complex work to upgrade the mechanical and electrical services, fire systems and access to the building, requiring Overbury to maintain temporary services to the offices throughout the scheme.

"The key to the success of this project was ensuring strong lines of communication with the client and free flowing exchange of ideas," explains Andy Paton, managing director at Overbury. "By working closely with the client to address issues or concerns, we were able to deliver a quality service."

Claire Symonds, assistant director for customer contact and communications at Bexley Council, commented: "Overbury's team worked extremely hard to complete this project on time. They overcame a number of obstacles in a proactive and timely way. It was a pleasure to work with them."
