Date: 01 Sep 2004
Westfield and Hermes have commenced work on a £9 million refurbishment of CastleCourt, Belfast's premier retail destination. The joint owners' investment will transform the existing centre into a fresh, exciting place to shop, eat and relax.
The refurbishment will introduce a new contemporary-look food court, remodelled malls, state of the art lighting and customer service facilities. Eight new food retailers will provide variety and choice of offer within specially designed branded kiosks.
Development Director of Westfield, Peter Miller commented: 'We have developed the scheme in response to customer research and the growing trend to introduce significant dining offers and customer service facilities to the shopping centre environment. Belfast shoppers will soon be able to enjoy a meal in a sophisticated food court with great choice and comfortable seating.'
'We will also give the centre a complete makeover introducing the latest in contemporary lighting whilst simplifying the interior design and creating clean modern finishes to the public areas'
The refurbishment will also include upgrading the existing car park, adding customer toilets and new baby change facilities. This work provides a taste of things to come as Westfield continue to pursue proposals to significantly extend CastleCourt bringing a new department store, additional speciality stores and leisure facilities to aid the regeneration of Belfast City Centre.
