Marubeni-Komatsu - General - New MR Range

Date: 08 Apr 2005

Exhibiting on Stand 401, Avenue E at SED 2005, Marubeni-Komatsu will be focusing on the new MR
range of zero tail mini and midi excavators, plus the new Komatsu telescopic handlers and the latest
in skid steers, with visitors able to see the machines put through their paces in the Komatsu
demonstration area.

Available in the UK through Marubeni-Komatsu and its 17 strong Utility dealer network, three models
from the MR range of Hydraulic Excavators will be on show - the PC78MR, PC35MR and PC30MR -
alongside two excavators from the conventional PC range - the PC15R and PC09. Productivity, stability
and lifting capacity have all been improved over the previous range.

Cab space in the MR range has been increased significantly and is even better than the conventional range with the cab interior being comparable to excavators of twenty tonnes and above. Access for maintenance is superb thanks to the tilt-up cab and fully opening engine bonnet and side hoods, affording excellent access to all the interior components. 500 hour service intervals keep the machine working harder for longer.

The new WH range of tele-handlers features six different models, with lift capacities from 3.5 to 4.5 tonnes and maximum lift heights from 9 to 16.1 metres. On show at SED will be the WH716 and WH613. The tele-handlers are designed to meet the needs of both construction and materials handling companies and are used primarily for handling palletised loads, placing roof timbers and gutters, and general front shovel work.

The most significant feature of these new machines is their "super-low boom profile" which provides excellent static and dynamic stability. The machines can be fitted with frame leveling, which allows the chassis to be level even when working on uneven ground, and true parallel lift ensures the safe placement of materials even at full height. Stability is further enhanced by the ±10 degree oscillating front axle. All models can be supplied with front stabilisers, which can be independently controlled, and affords the machines even greater stability.

All the machines in the range have very tight turning circles, which ensures maximum manoeuvrability, even on restricted sites. The steering mode system allows the machines to be placed in to three different modes: four-wheel steer - highly useful in narrow spaces, two-wheel steer for road travel, and crab steer which enables the machine to escape away from tight obstacles such as walls. All models are fitted as standard with a 5 forward and 3 reverse gear Power Shift transmission.

Also on show for the first time at SED is the SK818-5 one of three new skid steers from Komatsu. The designs have focused on power efficiency and ease of use in these highly flexible machines which feature joysticks and proportional pedals to ensure perfect control of all functions. To further enhance that flexibility, a range of attachments can be used: cold planer, wheel saw, snow blower, backhoe excavator, mining bucket and many more. Tracked versions of the skid steers - the CK range - are also available.

Completing the line-up on the Marubeni Komatsu stand will be examples from the FRD range of attachments including cutters, hydraulic breakers and crushers.
