Marubeni-Komatsu - General - PC210LC-7 Excavators

Date: 11 May 2005

Addison Plant Ltd, a company specialising in deep drainage, has purchased two new PC210LC-7 excavators from Marubeni-Komatsu, the UK's sole supplier of Komatsu's high quality construction equipment.

The company was formed in 1989 by Bill and Lynne Addison. They now have 35 people working for them on various subcontracting and civil engineering projects across the North East.

To continue providing customers with a good service they have bought two Komatsu PC210LC-7 excavators, both fitted with Prolec safe load indicators, height watch, quick hitch and extra work lights for increased effectiveness and improved safety. One is in operation to help install drainage for Tolent Construction Ltd on Phase 1 of the prestigious Middlehaven regeneration project in Middlesbrough. The site was formerly an 80 acre dock but with the industries it served falling into decline it fell into a state of disrepair. An estimated £50 million is being invested in transforming the site to a 250 acre development which will feature contemporary architecture and spaces for living, work and leisure.

The PC210LC-7 is very robust and tough, as it is designed to work on challenging projects where reliability and high productivity is essential, ideal for Phase 1 of the restoration as 15 ha were prepared for commercial and residential purposes. Marubeni- Komatsu recognises how vital it is to have reliable machines and so engineers have improved the Dash 7 by increasing the digging performance through adding large bore cylinders to the arms and optimising the bucket digging force for the 1.8m arm.

The second PC210LC-7 is to work on Addison's term contract with Alfred McAlpine Government Services on a variety of civil contracts for Redcar & Cleveland Council, a unitary authority which began in 1996 to serve the community and its individuals in the borough by offering a comprehensive range of services and facilities. The PC210LC-7 is suitable for different work environments as it can be optionally equipped to use various advance attachments, allowing greater flexibility coupled with long term economic operation. Komatsu has also taken into consideration long periods of work by improving the operator's comfort. The cabin space is now 14% more spacious than the Dash 6.

Bill Addison comments, "We have six Komatsu excavators from PC340 down to PC50UU. Our first PC210 was purchased in 1990 and we have bought seventeen new machines since. We prefer to buy from Komatsu as they are locally built, have shown outstanding performance and reliability. Marubeni-Komatsu provides good customer service support - the Birtley staff has been excellent."
