Gazeley - Industrial Development - Essex, Dagenham Dock
Date: 20 Jun 2005
Leading European logistics developer, Gazeley, has embarked on the construction of its latest speculative warehouse unit.
This month (June), Gazeley will begin the construction of a 232,042 sq ft (21,557 sq m) spec build distribution facility branded 'Voltaic' at Dagenham Dock in Essex.
This development follows the successful completion of Gazeley's 2004 spec build construction programme, which added over 2 million sq ft (2,030,744 sq ft - 192,662 sq m) of new high specification warehouse accommodation to the market at locations in Bedford (G.Park Bedford), Hemel Hempstead (G.Park Hemel Hempstead), Lutterworth, Leicestershire (Magna Park UK), Thatcham (Mill Park) and Purfleet in Essex.
The 11 acre (4.45 hectare) Dagenham Dock site is strategically located with immediate access to the new A13T at Goresbrook Interchange, only 6 miles from Junction 30 of the M25 and 15 miles from the Port of Tilbury to the east.
Dagenham has a history of providing a skilled labour force for major technical employers such as Ford, Diary Crest and Aventis.
James Behrens, development director for Gazeley says:
"Dagenham Dock presents us with a great opportunity to regenerate a brownfield site into an attractive proposition for an occupier that requires access to both central London and the national motorway network."
Gazeley's preferred construction partner GSE UK will oversee the development programme. The warehouse building is scheduled for completion in Autumn 2005.
