Briggs & Forrester - Offices Development - London W1, Regent Street

Date: 28 Jun 2005

History was made on Sunday 5th June 2005 when London's Regent Street was closed.

Leading building services contractors Briggs & Forrester, working with main contractor Skanska Construction UK Ltd, on a project for the construction of a new HQ office building arranged for a 22tonne, 12m long x 4.3m wide x 2.2m high, bespoke pre-fabricated plant room with an in-built chiller and CHP to be lifted by crane for installation on the roof.

The road was closed at midnight on Saturday in order to assemble the 500 tonne crane and the plant room was brought in, with a motorcycle escort, from Heathrow in time for the lift at 7.30am. Following the successful lifting operation the crane was dismantled and the road was re-opened to traffic at 4pm.

Briggs & Forrester's contract for the installation of mechanical, electrical and public health building services is valued at £3million and work is due for completion in early December 2005.
