Monk Dunstone Associates - Leisure Development - Ampthill, Warren Wood
Date: 03 Aug 2005
The planning application for Center Parcs' £160 million Forest Village in Warren Wood, near Ampthill in Bedfordshire, has been submitted. Monk Dunstone Associates (MDA) is the project manager on the scheme.
MDA's role included the collation of the client's brief and the management of the design process to ensure that the team was ready for the planning process.
Like Center Parcs' four existing Forest Villages, the scheme will comprise accommodation, a range of indoor and outdoor sports and leisure facilities, a variety of restaurants, a sub-tropical swimming complex, water features and an Aqua Sana Spa set within the woodland.
In line with Center Parcs' commitment to sustainability and the improvement of the ecological value of its sites, it will build on less than 10% of the total area and will plant over 1/2 million trees and shrubs.
The scheme will, importantly, enhance the local economy through the volume of jobs that will be created throughout the construction process. The 1400 positions that will be needed to be filled once the Forest Village is operational as well as the additional injection of income provided by tourists and local purchases.
