Totty Building Services - Industrial Development - York, Clifton Moor Industrial Estate

Date: 13 Oct 2005

Totty Building Services has secured a £1.5 million project to create a new distribution centre in York for Menzies Distribution Ltd, part of John Menzies Plc. The project to convert an existing building on the Clifton Moor Industrial Estate, will see Totty strip out the former warehouse to its shell and completely refurbish the unit, with work scheduled for completion by the end of February 2006.

The internal layout of the existing structure will be reconfigured, with Totty Building Services carrying out demolition works and then constructing a steel-frame mezzanine floor with two-storey office accommodation, accessible by a new lift installation. Minor repair work will be carried out on the building's façade to repair damaged cladding panels and the contractor will install a state-of-the-art CCTV and alarm system.

The project also involves significant external works, with Totty forming a new access road to the warehouse and creating a large concrete hard standing area to accommodate delivery vehicles. Enhancements to the drainage system and new hard and soft landscaping works will also be carried out as part of the contract.

Philip Ryder, managing director of Totty Building Services, commented: "The company's expertise across a broad spread of industry sectors continues to prove highly attractive to existing and prospective clients on projects ranging in value from £200K to £2 million. With the resources, technical back up and health and safety support of the Totty Construction Group, Totty Building Services offers all the advantages of a larger main contractor but at a scaleable level."
