hurleypalmerflatt - Appointment - Karl Else
Date: 13 Oct 2005
Multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, hurleypalmerflatt, has appointed Karl Else, an expert in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermal modelling, as Head of Building Simulation.
Karl, who joins hurleypalmerflatt from Faber Maunsell, provides clients with CFD and thermal modelling, a service that delivers 3D computer models capable of predicting the ventilation and thermal behaviour of a building or part of a building.
Simulations can determine the effectiveness of a proposed or existing ventilation system, exposing hot and cold spots and assessing comfort levels. The models can also be used to predict energy use and test the effectiveness of smoke control systems.
This data informs the engineering or operation of the building and enables hurleypalmerflatt to develop optimum solutions that reduce energy consumption and make the building work as effectively and efficiently as possible for the client.
Paul Flatt, managing director of hurleypalmerflatt, says: "Karl adds a new dimension to our offering and enables us to provide our clients with significant advantages in the management of their property assets.
"CFD or thermal modelling can also help clients when they are developing a new building by demonstrating compliance with building regulations and, therefore, assist in the planning process", he added.
