The TSK Group - Offices Development - Liverpool, India Buildings
Date: 07 Nov 2005
The TSK Group, a leading workplace environment specialist, has completed a total renovation of the high-profile offices of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary in Liverpool. The eight-phase project took six months to complete - redeveloping a 25,000 sq ft space, spread over two floors in the prestigious India Buildings in Liverpool's high-profile business district.
The impetus behind the project was to create a new environment that will inspire and facilitate positive changes to DLA Piper's working culture, whilst developing a more space-efficient workplace to accommodate growing numbers. Philip Rooney, Office Managing Partner at DLA Piper explained:
"We wanted to redevelop the working environment in the Liverpool office to bring people together, as well as become more space-efficient. TSK developed designs for us that brought down the physical boundaries between teams and colleagues that existed in the previous offices."
Mr Rooney continued:
"The new office environment facilitates communication and a promotes a culture of teamwork, which is essential in a legal services organisation such as DLA Piper."
The firm had considered relocating offices to achieve their objectives, but Manchester-based TSK developed a solution for DLA Piper whereby they could achieve the desired changes without moving from the well-renowned India Buildings. The new environment is a far cry from the old offices, utilising the natural light from the glass-fronted areas of the building to create lighter, more open workspaces. Philip Rooney commented:
"TSK has brought about a complete transformation in our offices. The response from everyone has been hugely positive, and the project has provided a significant boost to morale throughout the team."
The project posed a number of logistical challenges, with all 170 staff based at DLA Piper's Liverpool office needing to work as normal throughout the six-month redevelopment. Intricate project planning was undertaken by TSK to minimise the impact of the work on DLA Piper's operation. Philip Rooney explained:
"This entire project has been about teamwork - not only inspiring teamwork amongst DLA Piper colleagues through a new working environment, but developing it between DLA Piper and TSK to ensure the work ran smoothly. TSK has been incredibly efficient at minimising dust and noise disruption, and has impressively remained on schedule throughout the project despite a number of logistical nightmares."
Andrew Burns, Joint Managing Director at TSK commented:
"Our experience in the legal sector has helped us to create an effective working environment for DLA Piper. Through detailed analysis of DLA Piper's working practices, combined with the application of key principles in interior design and space management, we have helped DLA Piper to open up their offices; facilitating a positive change in their working culture by inspiring increased levels of communication and productivity."
