Woods Bagot - Appointment - Simon Pole

Date: 08 Dec 2005

Woods Bagot, the international architecture practice, is continuing the development of its UK office with the appointment of Simon Pole as Design Director of its Interiors team.

Simon joins Woods Bagot from David Chipperfield Architects and Gensler where he was an associate. He brings with him extensive experience of working within the banking and financial sectors on large scale projects, such as the 35,000 sq m integrated fitout for West LB and a 34,000 sq m fit-out for Marsh McLennan. Although a well noted designer in the corporate world, Simon has experience in the retail, media and residential sectors. He passionately believes that a solid working relationship with the client is the recipe for a successful project.

At Woods Bagot in London, Simon will be joining a thriving and expanding interiors studio. Led by Sarah Kay, the studio is building up a talented and dedicated group of designers. Over the last two years, the team has worked in all sectors of the interiors market, and on a variety of size of projects, most recently having completed Multiplex's London head office in Berkeley Square, and a 19,000 sq ft project for Delancey. On the drawing boards currently are projects for Bloomberg Dubai, refurbishment of the Australian High Commission and ANZ Bank's new European headquarters.

Sarah Kay, Partner, commented: "Simon understands the Woods Bagot 'thought.design' philosophy and will drive design excellence in everything we do. In addition to his design expertise, Simon's experience of working with big businesses will contribute to the team's understanding of each client's business, and help us to succeed in promoting their values."

Stephan Reinke, Managing Partner, Europe, added: "Simon's a talented designer and his energy and drive will fit in perfectly with the dynamics of the London studio. We welcome him to the team and look forward to inevitable success."
