Date: 30 Jan 2006
Eric Young & Co has been appointed as joint development consultants and letting agents for the £40m redevelopment of Dunfermline's Kingsgate Centre. The new development includes 27 retail units and is expected to bring over 500 new jobs to the area, with Debenhams widely rumoured to be the lead tenant.
Eric Young & Co is one of Scotland's largest independent firms of chartered surveyors and specialists in retail property.
As development consultants, Eric Young & Co has been integral to the creation of Crossland's new concept for Kingsgate and as letting agents is tasked with attracting new brands to the town and allowing existing retailers to grow.
Andy Bain, Eric Young & Co's Director explains: "The planned development will breath life into Kingsgate, creating a stylish modern shopping environment and acting as a major boost for retail and employment in the area."
Significantly, the addition of a second major department store will create balance for Kingsgate Centre, optimising the space and bringing parity to rents throughout the shopping centre.
Crosslands Limited, owners of the Kingsgate Centre confirmed that planning application for the £40 million extension of the mall, including a two storey 79,000 sq ft department store, new car park, bus station and additional retail units had been approved last month.
Dr Ivan McCabrey of Crosslands Limited comments:
"Creating a quality department store in Dunfermline is the keystone of our proposals. We have been delighted with the response from local people to our plans for enhancing Kingsgate and the new bus station."
