Haymills - Offices Development - Cambridge, East Road
Date: 08 Feb 2006
Stowmarket based contractor Haymills, together with Turnstone Estates have successfully completed the £6.8m development of the new County Court on East Road, Cambridge.
The 33,970 sq ft (3,155 sq m) four-storey courthouse designed by Hurd Rolland and CMC Architects, provides three new court rooms and six hearing rooms, equipped with video facilities and improved waiting areas, enabling the hearing of complex cases and offering privacy in cases of sensitivity.
Located on the site of the former drill hall, the property replaces the current court in Bridge House - which does not meet the present and anticipated workload.
Steve Firman, Director of Haymills comments, "We are delighted to have constructed such a high profile and important building for Cambridge and its community."
Chris Goldsmith, Managing Director of Turnstone Estates adds, "The building is designed to positively enhance the surrounding areas as well as meet the urgent requirement of Her Majesty's Courts Service to provide improved justice facilities in Cambridge."
Mike Littlewood, Group Manager of the south eastern circuit for the Department of Constitutional Affairs (DCA) adds, "The new premises gives Cambridge Court much improved modern accommodation, more appropriate for providing excellent service in civil and family work for the public in Cambridge."
