Acheson & Glover - General Sale - Ireland, Hanson Seagoe Concrete
Date: 24 Feb 2006
County Tyrone-based construction materials manufacturer Acheson & Glover has acquired Hanson Seagoe Concrete Products - formerly part of Hanson plc - for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Saintfield, the company is a leading producer of kerbs and flags, manhole products, gullies and underground drainage systems. The deal has secured the jobs of the 40 people who work at the operation which will continue to trade under the Seagoe brand name.
Raymond Acheson, managing director of Acheson & Glover said the acquisition represents a perfect strategic fit that should result in future expansion at the Belfast Road facility.
"We are delighted to have secured this significant deal with Hanson plc. Seagoe has an excellent reputation among its customer base throughout the island of Ireland and in Great Britain.
"We are now looking to introduce new products to the site and we have plans for developing a number of the existing ones.
"The acquisition has also given us an excellent location from which to service our construction industry customers in and around the Belfast area," adds Mr Acheson.
The deal with Hanson plc marks the latest stage in the rapid growth Acheson and Glover has achieved over the past four years. One of Northern Ireland's most innovative and profitable construction industry suppliers, the family-owned business has invested around £20 million in new plant and facilities since 2002.
In this period, the company has aggressively targeted new opportunities in the Republic of Ireland and in Great Britain. As a direct result, turnover has increased by 40 per cent and sales to GB by 50 per cent.
