BSB - Mixed-Use Development - Leeds, Clarence Dock
Date: 01 Mar 2006
The Clarence Dock Company Ltd has appointed BSB, to provide strategic development advice and compliment the existing leasing team.
Clarence dock is a new £200 million mixed use development in Leeds city centre. As well as the 1100 residential apartments already in place, the North's most prominent scheme is to provide 390,000 sq ft of new space dedicated to fashionable Café bars, shops, restaurants, a hotel, casino and other supporting facilities. 100,000 sq ft of prime office accommodation and a secure covered car park for 1,650 vehicles is also located on the 1 million sq ft site.
Simon Kidd, Commercial Lettings Director at The Clarence Dock Company Ltd, comments, "With much of the infrastructure in place and the scheme already thriving with residential occupiers we are actively seeking potential retail, leisure and office occupiers. Clarence Dock is a unique, self supporting destination that is designed to attract stylish and aspirational brands looking for an exclusive environment rather than high street presence."
BSB directors Sarah Royle-Johnson and Andrew Cox boast an outstanding track record in commercial and retail agency. Cox has worked with branded retailers including Levi Strauss, Lee Apparel, Pepe Jeans, YSL and Fruit of the Loom and was responsible for the high-profile launches of fashion brands Phat Farm and Rocawear in the UK. Johnson implemented the lettings campaign on behalf of Berkeley Group which developed the Gunwharf Quays mixed use scheme and was credited with identifying a number of aspirational retailers and leisure operators new not only to outlet trading but to the UK. She started her career with CB Hillier Parker working with clients including the MoD and Tate & Lyle before joining Vail Williams commercial investment and development division.
Sarah Royle-Johnson of BSB comments "with BSB's commercial leasing and retail experience and exposure in continental Europe we are able to provide far more than just a leasing role. We will have the ability to work with the Clarence Dock team by providing strategic advice for the whole commercial tenant mix to ensure that all elements of commercial lettings compliment each other".
BSB is already appointed as strategic commercial development advisors to the Comer Group for the Ardennes Outlet Centre in Belgium. BSB have been instrumental in the implementation of the leasing strategy, set up of the management company and launch of the first phase of the development. Consequently, BSB has turned round the success of the project in Belgium with 50% of the centre open and trading in just 33 weeks - making it one of the fasted outlet retail letting campaigns ever seen in Europe.
