Marubeni-Komatsu Limited - General - The Dash 7 Range
Date: 24 Mar 2006
Mark Short, Director of Hellen's Plant Ltd based in Tyne & Wear, decided to replace the company's existing fleet by purchasing 8 new excavators from Marubeni-Komatsu, sole UK distributor for Komatsu.
Hellen's Plant Ltd has specialised in ground work and various civil engineering projects across the UK for over 30 years. Mark Short thought it was time for a new fleet and after extensive research into the market, he purchased eight excavators from Komatsu, comprising: 1xPC130-7, 4xPC210LC-7, 1xPC240LC-7, 1xPC290LC-7 and 1xPC138US-2.
The Dash 7 Crawler Excavators from Komatsu, are engineered for reliability, productivity and comfort. Komatsu machines demonstrate superior performance with horsepower ranging from 66kw, 88 HP @ 2,200 rpm for the PC130LC-7 to 134kw, 179 HP @ 2,050 rpm for the PC290LC-7. Its impressive power is not at the expense of the environment, with emission levels meeting EC Stage II Regulations, Dash 7 remains green friendly.
For added convenience, the Dash 7 range is equipped with Equipment Managing Monitoring System (EMMS) - an integrated monitoring system that keeps check on the running conditions of the machine. It alerts the operator when maintenance is required and will memorise any abnormalities during operation, making it easier to troubleshoot problems, which can help to reduce the downtime of the machine.
Where sites pose potential dangers for conventional excavators, the Komatsu PC138US-2 is a useful addition for Hellen's Plant as it features a short tail swing, providing a better eye view of the rear landscape. This allows the driver to avoid danger spots, typically found in spaces and urban environments. The Komatsu machines are designed for maximum operator comfort, with a cabin space 14% bigger than its predecessor model, along with ergonomic controls. It helps to reduce labour fatigue for the operator, while encouraging productivity levels.
Mark opted for the MKL finance package, a tailored finance plan set out by asset managers to provide a convenient means of managing business costs. Komatsu's service does not stop at the purchasing stage, they endeavour to keep customers satisfied with the machines by offering a customer support programme called 'Maximum Output,' covering a range of service and repair agreements. Mark says: "Our interest is in reliable and productive machines, Komatsu fitted the bill. The machines include an on board computer, minimising downtime. I took out a warranty agreement with buy back on the quality of machines."
