Marubeni-Komatsu Limited - General - Three Brand New Hydraulic Excavators
Date: 30 Mar 2006
Marubeni-Komatsu will be using their stand (B 140) at SED to introduce a number of new additions to their range, including the first UK exhibition showing of the PC210-8, one of three brand new hydraulic excavators launched by Komatsu as part of the new Dash 8 series.
Also on show will be the new PC14R-2 mini excavator, which visitors to the stand will have an opportunity to win as part of a competition created specifically for SED 2006.
The popular MR range of zero tail swing mini and midi excavators will be shown, alongside examples from the skid steer range, a telescopic handler and a Dash 5 backhoe loader. Visitors will also be able to gain information on MKL's specialist finance packages and the revolutionary new Kmax excavator tooth system.
The two showpiece attractions on the stand will be the PC210-8 and the PC14R-2. The PC210-8 offers a net power of 148 HP/110kW, an operating weight of 21390-22850 kg and a maximum bucket capacity of 1.68 cubic metres, with a number of developments on its Dash 7 predecessor. The brand new cab features a tubular steel frame, providing maximum protection for the operator, while also ensuring a comfortable working environment through its numerous SpaceCab features. It is also the quietest machine in its class, greatly reducing operator fatigue.
Fuel consumption and exhaust emissions are significantly reduced, thanks to a highly efficient ECOT3 engine and closely matched hydraulic unit. The ECOT3 engine meets EU Stage IIIA emissions regulations which, for the PC210-8, a full year ahead of European legislation.
The PC14R-2 is a new 1.5 ton mini excavator offering a net power of 14.7HP/11.2kW @ 2600rpm, an operating weight of 1460kg and bucket capacities between 0.03 and 0.06m3. The machine on the stand will be up for grabs, with a competition to win the excavator open to all visitors to the stand.
Significant developments have been made in a number of areas which Komatsu believes will make the PC14R-2 the new benchmark in small excavators. The bonnet and access panels are steel, rather than GRP thus increasing resistance of the machine to accidental damage. A major new design feature is a patented, tilting floor which allows access to all major components. Like the PC210-8, attention to design in the cab ensures operator comfort, with low-noise operation, and excellent visibility. The new machine supplements Komatsu's MR-2 mini excavator range, also on show on the SED stand, but features a conventional tail design providing outstanding stability for its weight and compact size. The PC14R-2 is available with a variable undercarriage allowing it to pass through the narrowest passages while maintaining stability during digging. Aimed primarily at the Hire sector, the new excavator is suited to a wide range of applications including gardening / landscaping, road maintenance and small-scale demolition.
