Atlas Ward Structures has recently completed a distribution scheme at Swindon, on behalf of Main Contractor Norwest Holst Limited and ProLogis Developments Limited. The first occupier on this development is automotive specialist Honda.
The North Yorkshire based Steelwork Contractor was awarded, the Design & Build contract, due to its excellent track record with both Norwest Holst Limited and ProLogis. Atlas Ward Structures, designed, fabricated and erected in excess of 1800 tonnes of structural steelwork and decking for this development.
The Swindon project consists of two buildings, DC1 and DC2, situated at South Marston Park. DC1 was recently occupied by Honda and it will be their first turnkey facility in the UK and facilitate their UK-wide distribution of spare parts and motorcycle/power equipment units. DC2 will be the largest speculative development ever built in Swindon, and is due for completion in April 2006.
DC2 measures 32,750 sq m (353,518 sq ft) and weighs in excess of 900 Tonnes. DC1 measures 28,520 sq m (306,986 sq ft) and similarly weighs in excess of 900 tonnes.
Established as Swindon's key distribution location, South Marston Park has occupiers such as BOC, ALDI, Nissin, Early Learning Centre, Exel, Royal Mail and Pentel all benefiting from the well-maintained, high quality environment. This premier B8 location is also home to many of Honda UK's major suppliers.
