Jackson Building Services - Mixed-Use Development - Colchester, Manningtree Road & Crown Street

Date: 24 May 2006

Jackson Building Services has secured two projects in Dedham, Colchester, worth a total of £900K, from affordable housing developer, Iceni Homes. Formed from the integration of three of the region's leading Housing Associations, Colne Housing Society in Colchester, Suffolk Housing Society in Bury St Edmunds and Cotman Housing Association in Norwich, Iceni Homes is making a major impact in the provision of high quality, affordable housing in the East of England.

The first of the two projects sees Jackson build a two-storey multi-purpose building, which will house a health facility, and a disabled needs 2-bed flat on the ground floor, with a further two, 2-bed general needs flats on the first floor. The new health facility on Manningtree Road will comprise a reception area, waiting room and two consulting rooms. Constructed using traditional brick and block work, with black weatherboarding and brickwork to the façade, the mixed-use development is due for completion by October.

The second scheme on Crown Street in Dedham will be carried out simultaneously with the first and will see Jackson construct three new homes - a 2-bed general needs bungalow and two, 2-bed flats, with the ground floor flat designed for disabled needs residents. Again the new homes will be constructed using traditional brick and block work with weatherboarding and a covered car parking area will link the bungalow with the two flats. The project is also scheduled to conclude in October.

Michael Manning, construction director for Jackson Building Services, commented: "As Jackson Building Services and Jackson Construction both continue to grow their reputation within the social housing sector, we are winning an increasing share of projects with the industry's most recognised providers. Jackson Building Services offers highly flexible and comprehensive contracting solutions for schemes up to £2 million in value, and is skilled in modern methods of construction and fast track programmes, delivering high quality projects on time and within budget."
