Rok plc - Appointment - Shaun Davis
Date: 08 Jun 2006
Rok plc has appointed Shaun Davis to the key position of head of health and safety for the rapidly growing group.
Shaun will head a newly expanded team and his role will encompass all aspects of health and safety management for the building firm which has set itself the goal of becoming the best employer in the industry.
A Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CFIOSH) and a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner, Shaun brings a wealth of knowledge in the building, maintenance and refurbishment arena to his new position.
He has previously managed a variety of projects for high profile clients such as the MOD, Central Government and more recently the London Underground and has spent the last eight years working for Balfour Beatty - where he worked alongside John Samuel, who was recently appointed operations director at Rok plc.
Commenting on the appointment John said: "Shaun brings a wealth of experience to this newly created role together with a dynamic approach which I am sure will fit Rok's mould-breaking approach perfectly.
"Ensuring the health and well-being of our rapidly expanding workforce is an essential part of our growth strategy. Shaun's appointment, and the focus of his support team, will be on carrying the message that health and safety is a priority to every one of our 37 centres."
Shaun said that there were many aspects of the Rok business which appealed to him, not least that it is years ahead of the industry in its attitude and approach to the construction process.
"Rok has set itself the goal of changing the public's perception of the industry and I am excited to be working in such a 'can do' culture. My personal aim is to ensure that every member of the Rok team goes home happier and, if possible, healthier at the end of the day than when they arrived.
"My immediate focus will be on rolling out a new health and safety tool kit across all Rok's operational centres the length and breadth of the country so that best practice becomes our norm.
"Part of that process will also involve challenging myself and my colleagues to see where else we can improve, perfect and hone our approach which I believe will be a vital part of meeting the objective Rok has set itself of becoming the best employer in this industry."
Away from work, Shaun helps with children's fitness and with the rehabilitation of young offenders. In addition he enjoys other activities such as swimming, cycling, squash and scuba diving.
