Swanke Hayden Connell Architects - Appointment - Helen Ibbotson
Date: 05 Jul 2006
Swanke Hayden Connell Architects (SHCA) has appointed Helen Ibbotson as Director of Practice at its Sheffield office.
Ibbotson, a qualified architect, has been appointed to the Sheffield office of the international practice, to drive forward major sector expansion in the areas of education and the commercial and leisure industries.
SHCA, a practice specialising in workplace consulting, architecture and interior design and which operates internationally from 10 offices in Europe, America and Russia, opened its Sheffield office in 2002 following its merger with Sheffield based architects George Trew Dunn, a highly respected practice with a wealth of experience in the planning and development of healthcare facilities in the UK.
The two practices, both leaders in their respective areas, formed a single practice combining both quality and experience in the design and construction of healthcare facilities, commercial interiors and architecture with the resources and capabilities to undertake all sizes of projects.
Swanke has received significant recognition for its architectural work for Loughborough University and various Open University buildings and Ibbotson is keen to build on these successes through establishing the practice firmly in the field of design and fit-out of educational facilities in the Midlands and North of England: "I firmly believe that our school building design should reflect new technologies and innovative thinking. We have an unparalleled opportunity to radically affect the education and aspirations of our children in the 21st Century," Ibbotson commented.
Speaking on her appointment Ibbotson continued: "My ambition is to develop the reputation of SHCA's Sheffield office as a creative, dynamic and talented practice. Being part of an award winning international company with an outstanding reputation for design, I want to grow the practice by drawing upon and expanding SHCA's international skills."
Julian Seward, principal at SHCA said: "We are delighted that Helen Ibbotson has joined the team bringing with her a great deal of knowledge and experience of the architectural sector. We are finding that creativity, maturity, new thinking and long-standing experience are collaborating very productively at SHCA, and we are continuing to prove that we can design and deliver best-in-class projects."
