Atisreal - Mixed-Use Development - Farnborough, Hotel Plans for RAF Officers Mess site on Farnborough Road
Date: 24 Jul 2006
Atisreal has advised Dakota Hotels on a planning application to regenerate the former RAF Officers Mess site on Farnborough Road, Hampshire.
Dakota plans to revive the currently derelict site of 1.465 hectares, and transform it into a state-of-the-art hotel, which will offer 176 bedrooms, conference facilities, a restaurant, a patisserie and leisure facilities including lounges, a gym and a sky bar with panoramic views.
In addition to supporting the popular Farnborough International Air Show, the Dakota Farnborough will be designed to become a destination in its own right, increasing tourism and leisure and retail spend in the North Hampshire area. The hotel will act as a conference venue for local businesses, and the restaurant, sky bar and conference facilities will be available for use by local residents.
The development also aims to fulfil a need for quality design in the area, while maintaining and strengthening the "green corridor" avenue of trees on Farnborough Road.
Ian Shrubsall, Head of Atisreal's Development Consulting team says: "The Dakota Farnborough will meet a long standing planning policy requirement for new hotels in the area. Farnborough has experienced significant economic growth in the last 5 years, with an influx of businesses taking up space on the many business parks nearby. However, there has been a real gap in the market for a top-quality hotel to meet the needs of local industry."
