Totty Building Services - Mixed-Use Development - Skipton, North Yorkshire, New Children's Centre at Hellifield Community Primary School
Date: 10 Aug 2006
Totty Building Services has won a £630K project from North Yorkshire County Council to build a new Children's Centre at Hellifield Community Primary School near Skipton. The project is part of the Council's ongoing programme of investment and refurbishment for schools across the district.
Totty will construct a single-storey extension at the stone built Victorian school to provide a range of new community facilities, which include a nursery and crèche. The extension has been sympathetically designed to blend seamlessly with the existing school and will have stone facing work to the façade.
The existing five-classroom school will also undergo a programme of modernisation with Totty upgrading staff and welfare areas, the canteen and kitchen facilities. Externally, the contractor will install a number of disabled access ramps and build a buggy shelter for pushchairs. The project is due to commence mid-August with completion scheduled for February 2007.
Philip Ryder, managing director of Totty Building Services, commented: "The company continues to see a growth in education sector projects across the north of England as local authorities look to upgrade and modernise existing school facilities. Totty is ideally placed to secure an increasing share of this work, having built up excellent credentials within this field for over twelve years and successfully delivering a host of key note schemes over the last 12-months."
