Globeplan - Mixed-Use Development - Brondesbury, £2 Million Mixed-Use Scheme on Kilburn High Road Completed
Date: 24 Aug 2006
Globeplan's £2 million mixed-use development at 328 Kilburn High Road, close to Brondesbury Station, is now complete. The scheme was designed by BPR Architects and is a small-scale example of the GLA principle to allow higher densities adjacent to transport centres. It reflects recent changes in planning legislation.
Prior to the sale of the land to Globeplan, BPR Architects worked with Network Rail to develop the masterplan for the land around Brondesbury Station and to secure planning permission for the first two sites.
The scheme's design incorporates large windows and its form continues the horizontal pattern of adjacent buildings, while being distinctly contemporary in character.
Paul Beaty-Pownall, director at BPR Architects, said: "Having worked for Network Rail to secure planning permission, we were able to help Globeplan through the challenge of building close to live operational railway and embankment structures."
The project team included Radha Consultancy Ltd, Jenkins and Potter, Baillie Knowles Partnership, Rickard Eastment party walls surveyors, Foreman Roberts and West Green Construction.
