Drivers Jonas - Mixed-Use Development - Ilford, Shortlist for £100 Million Town Centre Regeneration
Date: 30 Aug 2006
The London Borough of Redbridge (LBR) and their advisor Drivers Jonas have announced a shortlist of six prospective development partners for the major Unity Square town centre regeneration scheme in Ilford.
Of the 15 developers who submitted initial proposals, Barratt Homes, Bellway City Solutions with Metropolitan Housing, Berkeley Homes, Countryside / Tesco Stores, Crest Nicholson and Lend Lease have been selected to the shortlist. The successful partner will be announced in May 2007.
Redbridge Council's Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration, Councillor Jim O'Shea commented: 'The quality of submissions received at Stage 1 was extremely impressive, a fact borne out by the "who's who" nature of our shortlist. The Council is determined to work in close partnership with the chosen developer and the procurement process will ensure Ilford gets the right partner for a scheme that is best suited to the needs of the town and is both highly sustainable and regenerative'.
The scheme, to be completed by 2012, will comprise at least 450 residential units, a new theatre and public plaza, ground floor retailing and leisure facilities.
