Willmott Dixon - Offices Development - Runnymede, Runnymede BC Awards £12.5m Contract for New HQ

Date: 31 Aug 2006

Willmott Dixon Construction continues to expand its work in Surrey with a £12.5 million contract from Runnymede Borough Council to build its new civic offices and neighbourhood police facility in Addlestone. The contractor has teamed up with one of the country's leading architects, Feilden Clegg Bradley, to build the two-storey office accommodation. The Willmott Dixon Construction site team responsible for the project will be led by building manager Neville Dale.

When finished in spring 2008, the office will have some notable features to reduce running costs and the reliance on fossil fuel energy. These include orientating the building into a position where occupants enjoy enhanced levels of natural light through large windows, plus a system to provide natural air cooling that reduces the need for air-conditioning, a contributor of CO².

These energy conscious aspects should help it achieve a targeted BREEAM rating of excellent; the highest score possible. BREEAM ratings are the recognised standard for measuring a building's environmental impact and performance in areas like carbon dioxide emission and energy efficiency, plus land and water use.

Mark Tant, managing director at the local office in Portsmouth Road, Cobham, said," It's a great accolade to be awarded the project to build Runnymede's new civic offices and one that we are really excited about. Most of the site team are local to the area and are delighted to be given the opportunity to be involved with such an important scheme following their excellent work on the Elmbridge Leisure Centre."
