Date: 05 Sep 2006
Morgan Sindall's infrastructure services provider Morgan Est, with Belfast-based joint venture partner Farrans (Construction) Ltd, has been awarded a three-year £91.8 million deal to upgrade Belfast's sewerage system for Northern Ireland Water Service.
Under the terms of the Stormwater Management Works contract, which is worth approximately £61.5 million to Morgan Est, the companies will design, build, test and commission a 9.4km tunnel, up to four metres in diameter, under the city centre to the Duncrue Wastewater Treatment Works. The contract also involves the construction of a 16 m³/sec capacity Terminal Pumping Station housed inside a 40-metre diameter underground structure, a new 6,000m³ stormwater tank and marine outfall.
Morgan Est is due to start work on the project in September.
