Tuffin Ferraby Taylor - Offices Development - Kingston upon Thames, Kingston Pathfinder School gets planning go-ahead

Date: 18 Sep 2006

A One School Pathfinder project team celebrated recently after its scheme gained planning approval - just four months after commissioning.

Permission for the £23m redevelopment of Chessington Community College was granted by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames' planning committee.

The project is one of 13 One School Pathfinders, announced by the Department for Education and Skills last October, as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. It is due for completion in September 2008.

Building consultants Tuffin Ferraby Taylor (TFT) lead the project team, in association with IID Architects, RLF Cost Consultants, structural consultants David Osborne Associates, M&E consultants Faber Maunsell, and landscape architects Ireland Associates.

IID partner Chris Box said: "This rapid approval shows the team's understanding of 21st century educational needs, and the value of a project team drawn from the area, with in-depth local knowledge."

And TFT partner Paul Raymont added: "To have achieved full planning within four months of being commissioned is a remarkable achievement, which shows the effectiveness of a collaborative approach."
