Humberts - Mixed-Use Development - Romsey, Leonard Cheshire Acquires Land in Romsey
Date: 05 Oct 2006
Commercial property specialist Humberts has just concluded the acquisition of a £1.2 million development site for disability charity Leonard Cheshire - the UK's leading provider of disability support services.
The land at Botley Road in Romsey, which already benefits from planning permission, will be developed by the charity as part of its strategic re-provision of services.
Approximately one acre, the land, close to the town centre, will be developed for a 20-bed care home by Leonard Cheshire - which currently provides over 140 services including resource centres, care at home services and residential care.
Humberts is working with the charity to assist in rationalising and expanding its extensive property holdings and to acquire sites for new development.
John Garnham, Head of Property for Leonard Cheshire, commented: "Part of our commitment to our service users is to provide a new range of services which gives them better access to local services and choice in their daily lives.
"Humberts' local knowledge and experience has once again delivered an ideal site, close to local amenities and the town centre which we can incorporate into our ongoing programme of building replacements."
Humberts' Director Andrew Archibald added: "We are delighted to have secured a further site for Leonard Cheshire which will assist it as it restructures its extensive portfolio.
"Further acquisitions will follow and we are still actively looking for similar sites across the South to enable the charity to offer increased independence and choice to those it supports."
